30 MINUTE STEAK & SHRIMP

INGREDIENTS & PRICE
- a bag of frozen shrimp – $2.99
- steaks – $1.47 (on sale at WinnDixie)
- a can of diced tomatoes w/ green onion – $.89
- a can of corn – $.24
- two servings of rice – $.55
- a stick of butter – $.16
TOTAL: $6.30

Other ingredients already at home:
- seasonings to taste

TOTAL COOK TIME: 26 minutes

Here are the ingredients that I used:

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and season your steaks. Place your steaks in a nonstick baking dish and cover it with aluminum foil. Place the baking dish on the center rack for about 15 minutes. (My steaks were pretty thin, so it took a lesser amount of time.)

  • While the steaks are in the oven, drain the liquid off of the can of corn and the can of diced tomatoes. Combine the drained corn and tomatoes in a bowl along with your bag of shrimp. Season lightly to taste. Cover this mixture and sit it aside.

  • Once you are done with this mixture, start a pot of water to boil for your rice.
  • After 15 minutes, pull your steaks out of the oven. Drain the liquid off of the steaks and cover them with the corn, tomato and shrimp mixture. Take half a stick of butter and cut it into small pieces. Place the pieces on top of the mixture. Put the aluminum foil back over the baking dish and put it in the oven for an additional 10 minutes.

  • By this time, your water should be done boiling. Add your rice to the boiling water. (I use the 10 minute rice.)
  • After the 10 minutes, pull your baking dish out of the oven. Place some rice on the bottom of your plate and cover it with a steak plus the corn, tomato and shrimp mixture. Let the yumminess begin!

  3. Wow, this is great. As someone who is not an expert cook, I need these type of specific directions with lots of pictures. And as a penny pincher (I found you through MSM), I love that you have the cost of the ingredients.

I’m so glad I found this blog:)!
