REDBOX TUTORIAL

RedBox is an awesome movie rental machine that allows you to rent movies for just $1 a day. I have received several emails from readers asking me how to use the RedBox machine. I love helping out whenever I can, so I am going to write a short tutorial on how easy it is to rent movies from RedBox.

FIRST THING FIRST
You need to have a debit card or a credit card to use the RedBox machine. I have tried using a Visa giftcard with RedBox and it will not accept it.

ABOUT THE FREE RENTAL CODES
Codes are released every Monday for a free RedBox movie rental. You still have to scan your credit/debit card to rent the movie and they will put a hold on your account for the $1. But as long as you return the movie before 9pm the next day, the movie rental is free. They will release the hold on your $1 within 3-5 days. The movie rental code can only be used on Monday and will expire that night at midnight. So make sure you make it to the rental machine before then.

ACTUALLY RENTING A MOVIE

  • There are two ways to rent a movie: with or without a code. If you have a code, on the screen you will push “Rent a movie with a code.” If you don’t have a code, just push “Rent a movie.

  • If you are renting a movie with a free rental code, you will be prompted to enter the promotional code. Once you do this you will be taken to the main screen.
  • The main screen holds all of the movies that are available at that machine. Scroll through the movies and select the movie that you want to see.
  • Once you select your movie, they will ask you if you want to enter your email address for a receipt of your movie rental and to receive promotional offers in your inbox. I went ahead and entered my email address, because once you return the movie they will send you an email confirmation of that as well.
  • After you enter your email address it will prompt you to scan your credit/debit card. It only takes a few seconds to approve it.
And that’s it! You have completed your first RedBox transaction. This makes for a really cheap and frugal family night.

Check here every Monday for your free rental code.

  1. You can also use the free codes more than once if you use different debit/credit cards for each rental!

  2. I don’t think we have those around here. I have’nt seen any anyway. :(

    • Most of the rental machines are in the front of walmart stores.

  3. Checking out your site more and more! Like your work and your site…Did you design your page yourself or pay someone else to get it up and running for you?

Another question: If you don’t mind, is your blog making money for you! Or do you just do it for the fun of it, with no profit…just curious! Faithful follower.

  4. Shynea thanks alot…I have never used the redbox machine…but I will try it out on tonight. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
