QUICK TIP: NATURALLY UNCLOGGING A SINK
This weekend, I had the pleasure, (note the hint of sarcasm), of having a clogged sink. I wasn’t pleased at all. I went to rinse out my drinking glass and the next thing I knew, the water was slowly draining out of the sink. I reached into the water to make sure that the sink stopper wasn’t in there, and to my horror it wasn’t.
At first I was upset. Then I remember a quick tip that I have used several times over the year to unclog a clogged kitchen sink. All you need are:
- 1/2 cup of baking soda
- 1 cup of vinegar
- 1 gallon of boiling water
Dip as much water out of the sink as possible. This was easy. I got as much of it out and then I waited for the rest of it to seep out. Next pour your baking soda down the drain and chase it with the vinegar. Wait thirty minutes and pour the boiling water down the drain. It cleared my sink up like a charm.
An extra tip?
If your sink is clogged because of grease, take 1/4 cup of salt and 1 cup of water. Mix it together and pour it down the drain. Follow it with 1/2 cup of baking soda and a gallon of boiling water. The salt will help erode the grease and clear it away.
These are only tips for a minorly clogged sink. If you sink is stopped up extremely bad, a plumber may be your best bet.

I do this too. Quick note if you do this once a month in all your sinks it will keep them running pretty smoothly. And I love to vinegar reaction….it is kinda science fair…lol
I gave you an award come over to my blog and pick it up.
Thanks for the dip! Slow drains are the worst, and store-bought drain cleaners are very expensive!
I think I’m going to do this regularly… our bath tub was so plugged up last week that this didn’t do the trick.
