CVS 101: HOW TO PLAY THE CVS GAME
I love shopping at CVS. Although I have had a love hat relationship with it this year, this is still one of the best drug stores to shop at for good savings.
When I first became frugal and started using coupons, CVS was the store that I practiced in. I learned how to combine sales with coupons and how to use manufacturer coupons alongside store coupons.
CVS was also the store that allowed me to build up my stockpile. I don’t have to buy soap, toothpaste, razors, and shampoo for almost a year. Those items alone can be a big chunk of any family’s budget. (Especially a family of 6.)
I have gotten so many emails from people asking me how to shop at CVS. When I moved PennyPinchingDiva.com to it’s own server about a month ago, I didn’t get the chance to format all of my posts. So I just now realized that all of my CVS 101 posts are just floating around.
Don’t worry. I have formatted my CVS 101 tutorials into an easy to read, and free, downloadable mini eBook. Couponing 101: How to Play the CVS Game is available for you to download now.
In this handbook you will find a section on:
- Understanding the CVS coupon lingo.
- Before your first purchase.
- Making your first purchase.
- Getting a rain check.
- CVS coupon policy.
So go ahead and download the CVS handbook now.

I love the fact that you did this. I can’t wait to see if there is something I have been missing!
Thanks for doing this. Now I’ll actually sign up for the card instead of pretending I lost it every time I go there so the cashier can scan theirs and give me the discount
Thank you so much for this and the entire site. I read your article in Essence this weekend and have visited your site everyday since. You have turned me into a penny pinching diva!!
Thanks so much for all the information you provide to us on saving money. I have viewed other sites regarding “saving with coupons” but I believe that yours is by far one of the best. You explain things which helps a new person like me understand the process.
I have visited your site almost everyday since reading the Essence article. Even did my first shopping trip at CVS. Will post my savings soon. Thanks Again!!!
I LOVEEE this site! Ive been here everyday since I saw your article in Essence. Kudos to you. I am also a young mom and I am starting my blogger career about fashion (get it for less, celeb-inspired, clothes according to body-type, personal style consultant) and I also sale clothes, vintage fashion, and jewelry on ebay (www.ebay.com/klashaascloset).
Keep it up and thanks!!!
Thank you for writing this. I have just started using the CVS card and it was a little difficult for me to understand the ins and outs of the program. Great tutorial!
THANK YOU ..THANK YOU
I love your site…I learned about it from the Essence magazine…I went couponing yesterday and i loved doing it…Keep up the good work
I am so glad that this guide is of use to someone. I wrote it because all of the CVS tutorials I read when I began were so vague and confusing. I broke it down into sections so others could understand what I was missing at first.
Take care,
Shynea
Thanks so much for the money saving tips! I thought that I did pretty good with sales & coupons but your site helped me save EXTRA cash and get items for basically FREE. Thanks so much for your site and God Bless. Will be back next week
Great handout!
aw you were in essence mag, hun!!! sweeet!!!
Shynea,
One thing I do at CVS is plan ahead for the ECBs so I can spend it all in one trip. If I know I am going to get an ECB, I split my order. I will purchase those ECB items first then use the ECB on the second order right away. That way I have less chance of losing or forgetting about them on my next trip.
I have wanted to get into the couponing game but all other sites just were too overwhelming and I gave up. Your site is so ….easy for a beginner to get started. I am going to begin just as you said – at a CVS store this very evening. I will sign up for the card today. Thank you so much!
Hey Shynea,
Where do I get an extra care value book? Thanks
