ORGANIZING YOUR CHILDREN’S CLOTHES FOR SCHOOL

Works For Me 2Going back-2-school is always a hectic time for my family. After two months on a “free for all” schedule we ar enow getting ready to get back on a routine. Adding a routine back into our lives after eight weeks of lazy days and all nighters is going to be quite the adjustment.

Do you want to know the best thing about summer? All day pajama fests. PJ’s were a staple in my family this summer. Stripes and polka dots? Yes ma’am. Red and purple together? Why not. Although our colorful, and sometimes creative, clothing choices were our way of approaching dressing this summer in a relaxed way, this will not work for their school ensembles.

Sunday is the day that I dedicate during the school year to coordinate all of my son’s outfits for the following school week. I sit down and pick out five outfits for each of them. Then we hang the outfits up in their closet for easy access during the morning rush.

Organizing Hangar ThumbnailTo make this easier on them, and myself, I decided to create weekly outfit organizers that can be used on their hangers. Once I match up the outfits, I attach the hang tag to their hangers. That way, on Monday they know to grab Monday’s hanger and so forth.

The downloadable hanger tags are so easy to use.

  1. Print them out in color on heavy card stock.
  2. Cut along the black lines. Making sure you cut out the circle as well.
  3. Laminate them. You can do this at your local office supply company or at home with a kit that can be purchased at Wal-Mart.

It is a lifesaver in my home.

You can download your own set of hanger tags to be used by your children during the school year.

If you are looking for a daily organizer, you can download the Penny Pinching Diva Daily Planner to help make your day a little more organized.

  1. What an amazing idea! My kids will love this!

  2. Hello,

While at work, I briefly read your article in Essence yesterday. What a wonderful idea! I have two girls… four & seven. I work 12 hour shifts three days a week. When I’m at work, my husband gets our girls ready for school. I’ve been wanting to organize their closets more efficently. Thanks for tip, I’m sure this will help us a great deal!

    Warmly, Sharon
