WHERE IS PENNY PINCHING DIVA GOING FROM HERE…

I have been enjoying answering my reader’s questions this week. A lot of you have expressed interest in getting to know the person behind the blog, and the range of questions that I received, I feel, kept the blog interesting this week.
Recently I receive a question from a reader in my email wanting to know my thoughts on the PR Blackout and where I saw Penny Pinching Diva going. Here was the question:
Hi Shynea,
As a frequent reader/follower of your blog, I wanted to know what you thought of the whole “PR Blackout”?
I do find myself as of late, hoping for more posts about how to saving money, keeping the home, the “live” shows you used to have, frugal living, etc….instead of so many products.
I am writing this e-mail because I am an honest woman and I believe you are too…besides, I wanted to address this in a respectful manner without the interference from other people.
Thanks-
xxxxxx
Dear xxxxxx,
I am glad that you have decided to email me. I have had a few readers email me wondering what my thoughts are on the entire “PR Blackout” debate were.
I have to say that I agree with it 100%. I have said so in my tweets as well as on my website. I started Penny Pinching Diva to help people “pinch their pennies” and save money. I use to write several articles a week on saving money, frugality, recipes, etc… and I have lost track of that.
When companies started coming to me in interest of having me give honest reviews of their products, I was excited because I have always wanted to review products. But in the meantime my website kind of took a backseat to the original purpose behind it, and instead I was focusing more on the product reviews and giveaways.
I took a step back from my blog a few weeks ago to just kind of look at it and analyze where it was going, and I have to say that it wasn’t in a direction that I was too happy about. I get pitched by companies on a daily basis. The few product reviews and giveaways that I do decide to put up are actual products that I have used and continue to spend my own money on to purchase when my supply has run out.
In the next few weeks you will see my website get back on track. I have previous obligations with companies that I have to complete, but I will be getting back to the “original” reason why my website was created. All good things evolve and change over time. That is how I want my site to be.
Will I give up product reviews and giveaways all together? No, I don’t want to give up doing product reviews and giveaways altogether. I’m not the only one who benefits from those. My readers do as well by being able to have the chance to enter and win free, quality products as well as get honest opinions instead of sugar coated ones. I’m not paid to do these reviews, so I have no reason to gloss over anything.
I will also start doing my MomTV shows starting next week on Thursday on a weekly basis again. I had to stop because of equipment failure, but I am back up and running and have had plenty of time to brainstorm lots of fresh, new ideas. So look for more announcements on that later this week.
I just wanted to thank you once again for sending me an email and asking my opinion on the entire “PR Blackout.” I know that some bloggers and websites have taken it way out of context, and have scewed the original meaning behind it.
Take care,
Shynea
