SPICY FRIED SHRIMP PO’BOY RECIPE

Spicy Fried Shrimp PoBoy scIf you’ve been coming to my website for any amount of time, you know that I love making meals for my family that are quick, healthy and take less than 30 minutes to cook from start to finish. I love cooking and making things for my family from scratch, but when it comes to cooking dinner I don’t have a lot of time to spend in my kitchen in the evening. I have too many things going on at home around dinner time that allotting an hour or so in the evening in my kitchen is just not feasible.

I was presented with the opportunity to try Seapaks pre-breaded popcorn shrimp. I love popcorn shrimp and often toss it into a salad for added flavor, but I wanted to create a meal for my family that tasted good, but was filling as well. That is when I decided to try and make my own Spicy Fried Shrimp Po’boy at home. I did quite a few Google searches on the internet for spicy toppings, and finally with a few different findings, I came up with my own recipe for spicy goodness.

This meal takes approximately 15 minutes to prepare from start to finish.
When you’re done, you’ll have six servings. Enough to feed a family of six, or a family of four with leftovers for lunch the next day. If you want to eliminate the bread out of this recipe, make a salad and use the dressing as the topping. The dressing makes for a spicy alternative to regular salad dressing and is very good.

RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of Seapak popcorn shrimp
  • 6 French buns
  • bag of shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp. of Zatarins Creole mustard
  • 1 tsp. horseradish
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tbsp. hot sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and bake your Seapak popcorn shrimp for 10 minutes. (Turn them over after 5 minutes for a crispier finish.)
  2. In a bowl mix together the mayonnaise, mustard, horseradish, garlic salt, cayenne pepper, paprika and hot sauce.
  3. Cut your French buns in half and add a layer of shredded lettuce and 2 thinly sliced tomatoes.
  4. Once the popcorn shrimp is finished baking, and about 10-12 popcorn shrimp to the bun.
  5. Top the popcorn shrimp with a healthy dollop of the spicy dressing.
  6. Serve with your side of choice and enjoy.

  1. Thanks for sharing your SPICY recipe. We love shrimp in our household so I may have to give this a try. I love that you provided a oven version. Lately everything I prepare is oven fried or baked.
