HELP DOVE SUPPORT THEIR SELF ESTEEM CAMPAIGN & A GIVEAWAY
I am honored to say that I was invited to participate in the Dove campaign for Real Beauty. I don’t have a daughter of my own but I am the oldest of four girls with my youngest sister being only 15. I know firsthand how important having the right self esteem can be. I also know how destructive having a lack of self esteem can be as well.
Dove has a new campaign out called “Thank You For Making A Difference.” It is Dove’s mission to reach 5 million girls with programs on self esteem by 2010. Since 2005 Dove has been reached over 3.5 million girls globally. Every time one of their consumers purchase a Dove beauty care product a portion of that purchase goes to the Dove Self Esteem Fund.
This fall Dove launched the “Thank You For Making A Difference” program to thank their supporters for building up girl’s self esteem.

I incorporate positive self esteem in my children by reinforcing the importance of being the best in everything they do; encouraging them to be leaders and to setting good examples in everything they do and say. Respecting themselves as well as the others.

I try to boost my daughter’s (and son’s) self esteem by telling them how smart, beautiful, talented and special they are. I pray to God that they have a positive self image and grow to love themselves inside and out.

I promote self esteem in my daughter my letting her know the importance of not only loving herself but loving others. Also that beauty lies within ones soul.
Wow…this is important in my home. I have a young daughter struggling with self-esteem issues. I try to affirm her whenever I can, using positive images whenever I see them. I let her know that she has so much going for herself..intelligence, beauty, athleticism, ambition. I also try to reinforce to her that beauty comes in all different colors, shapes and sizes, because there is no such thing as one standard for beauty, no matter what anyone says. I want her to get to the point where she feels good about her, because once you get there and have that confidence, it’s unshakable.
I love this! For as long as I can remember I have been teaching this. I’ve been an advocate of natural, God-given beauty. I have 2 little girls ages 10 and 7. This is such a tender age. I have always encouraged them to just be who they are and not desire to be “like” everyone else, to be leaders and not followers. This also goes for my 2 sons. (Boys are not exempt either-the messages they receive might just be a little more subtle, but watch out).
The bottom line for me is to be an EXAMPLE to my children of what is is to truly be beautiful… it starts from within and radiates out. Sounds like a cliche, i know. But I live it and my kids see it daily!
I could go on and on, but i just had to get my 2 cents in! Blessings!
what an awesome idea
