Writing my “Diva’s Top 5″ article is one of the highlights of my week. I get to feature people/websites/products/places/events that have influenced me or inspired me for that week. I have also gotten a lot of feedback on my previous Top 5 features, as well as thank yous, for inspiring my readers as well.

For this week’s Top 5 article I am featuring quite a few great products made by women, websites written by women and events run by women. I have always been a supporter of supporting women owned businesses, so this week’s “Diva’s Top 5″ is a tribute to powerful and inspirational women.

01. Carol’s Daughter

I was introduced to Carol’s Daughter a few years ago. It was the all natural body scrubs that hooked me to this product line and the history behind Carol’s Daughter inception is what has made me come back. Starting out of her home, Lisa Price created a beauty line made from natural products. What was once just a small home based business has expanded to a loyal following of not only women but celebrities as well. You will see the likes of Mary J. Blige, Jada Pinkett Smith and Rachel Ray proclaiming about her spectacular products. Carol’s Daughter has recently partnered with Disney to feature the first African American princess Tiana in an exclusive product line for children.

If you are looking for a new bath and body line to try out, or are just in the mood for a nice body scrub (I recommend the Honey Brown Sugar scrub) then you should take a peak at Carol’s Daughter.

02. Mom Made That

This is an awesome site run by Amy Bellgardt of Mom Spark. What started out as a holiday guide inspiration in December 2008 featuring “mom made products” has expanded to a comprehensive listing of mom owned business and boutiques. What is even more wonderful about Mom Made That is that you can find unique and one-of-a-kind presents, gifts, items, clothing and home decor all made by moms.

With the plummet in the economy and women owned businesses closing left and right, it is nice to see boutiques operated by moms continuing to strive. If you’re in need of purchasing a present for an upcoming event, I suggest you take a look at all of the featured shops on Mom Made That and support small businesses as well as gift a loved one with a present that you know they won’t find anywhere else.

03. Talking With Tami

Tami has been an inspiration to me for a very long time now. I happened by chance one day to come across her website Talking With Tami and I have been hooked ever since. This diva hails from Cleveland, Ohio but now resides in Atlanta, GA. Not only is she kicking butt and taking names, but she is also the host of her very own talk show Talking With Tami. She is not only conquering the scene in Atlanta with her “pinktastic” style but her show is syndicated in other major cities as well. From the red carpet to celebrity interviews this mom has, is and will be doing it all.

It is my goal to one day have my own local talk show (and possibly succeed Oprah after her retirement *wink wink*) and I keep my dreams alive knowing that another great diva has already blazed her own trail in media. Catch Talking With Tami on her website or live every Monday on her MomTV show.

04. Dawn of DPK Virtual Assistant Services

It is out of necessity my dream to one day be able to employ a virtual assistant part time. I have so many projects, PR reps and clients that I am handling that I know a few of them gets lost in the fray. I have had the immense joy of working with Dawn Papandrea-Khan of DPK Virtual Assistant Services. Not only is this mom proficient and on top of her game when it comes to assisting her clients, but she is very prompt as well. She takes creativity and research to a new level when met with any job that she is presented. She has went from running her own original painted murals business, to starting up two new businesses, as well as writing a blog and taking care of her four beautiful children.

If you are in the market for a virtual assistant I sugges that you take a look at Dawn’s DPK Virtual Assistant Services.
