ANNOUNCEMENT:PENNY PINCHING DIVA IS MOVING IN A NEW DIRECTION

For months I have noticed that my posting on Penny Pinching Diva has declined. I will forever be a “penny pincher” and be frugal, but I have been missing the drive to write on my website for awhile now. With the many changes that I am going through in life I find that I am going through so many different things, both as a woman and a mother, that I feel that not only my readers but others can relate to as well.

But I continued to try and keep up with my regular postings.

I have decided that in order to keep writing and producing the best content that I can, I need to get back to what use to make me happy. Writing about my family and posting pictures of them make me happy. Posting frugal, quick, easy and tasty recipes make me happy. Vlogging (video blogging) make me happy. Responding to my readers questions and interacting with y’all in the comments make me happy. Posting about my shopping successes make me happy. Building my blog into a community make me happy. Posting about my ever present mishaps at being a “housewife” made me happy.

Although I love writing about coupons, deals and shopping as cheaply and efficiently as possible that is not all that I am. I know that there is more to living frugally then just price comparisions and couponing. What about what to do with those items once you bring them home? What about creating ways and teaching your kids how to be frugal? What about being crafty?

When I first started this blog back in 2008 I had a healthy balance.

I wrote about my life, posted pictures of my family and posted the best deals that I could find both on, and off, the internet.

I’m going back to what makes me happy.

Of course you will still see my frugal posts, my coupon alerts, and my deal matches, but you are going to get more of ME in there as well. You’ll read more about how I deal with life on a day-to-day basis. You’ll read more about my sons and how it is to live in a “house of blue.” You’ll read about all of the emotions that I go through with raising a child with developmental delays. I’ll be more of a verbal advocate for woman who have experienced domestic violence in their lives. You’ll see more videos of me as I work on a new video series for my blog. I might even go back to doing my LIVE video shows once a week as well. (I always had a lot of fun doing those.)

This blog will no longer be one sided.

For those of you who visit here on a daily basis for ALL of the content, I’m glad that you come and I hope you’ll stand by me as I transition to a new version of Penny Pinching Diva. For those of you who visit here on a daily basis for just the deal posts, I hope you’ll stay and get to know the writer behind the blog more, as well as still get your daily dose of deals.

I’m still a work in progress and my blog is going to reflect that from now on.

    • Dear Priscilla,

Hopefully I have a lot to share with my readers. Sometimes I feel as if I ramble on-and-on-and-on… lol I know that I LOVE writing about the boys and that hopefully with me keeping my parenting style “real” people can relate to me. (Because we all know there is no such thing as a perfect parent.)

      Take care,
      Shynea

    • Dear Nicole,

I am SO glad that you like my blog. (And the “lazy” recipes that I post. lol) I am definitely going to have to check out YouTube for some videos on autism, as I am still learning about this. My hard work is for my readers because without y’all I wouldn’t have the drive to continue to write.

      Take care,
      Shynea

  10. Shynea, I just want to offer my support. I first found you through the article in Essence and you, essentially, are responsible for me becoming a couponer. I am so grateful that I came to your site and found your deals, etc., I feel that whatever you do and makes you happy is what you should do. I always find it interesting and encouraging to see what others are experiencing and going through, so most definitely, and for whatever it’s worth, you have my utmost support. I will visit this site no matter what and how you change it. Just do what feels right and good to you and keep it honest to you cause then you can present to us in an honest way, if that makes sense and for what it’s worth. You go girl and do you!

    • Dear Connie,

Thank you SO much for your support. I am really glad that Essence ran that article with me in it because I have gotten in contact with so many great people because of it. A lot of people don’t know the benefits of couponing because they only see a $.50 coupon and that’s it. I was really happy that I was able to change a lot of people’s thinking because of it. I have always been an “open book.” I don’t have a reason to keep a lot of things private because I feel as if other’s can learn from my experiences and mistakes. I am glad to see that you will continue to visit my site and I hope that it blesses you in some way.

      Take care,
      Shynea
