QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: GETTING READY FOR BACK-2-SCHOOL
Next week is going to be a very busy week for me. School starts back Monday the 23rd and I go back to work Tuesday the 24th. I have three big boys in school and the other two babies will be in a relative’s care while I’m at work. (I will not even begin to tell you how fast I get depressed by even thinking about baby girl being away from me for more than a few hours.) Needless to say I feel like I am not prepared like I should be for these monstrous events. So I need y’alls help.
Please give me your best back-2-school tips so I can get my three oldest sons to school, the babies to their destination, and me to work on time.
What does your family do to prepare for going back to school?

Being a mom of four kids. Three schools and going to school myself. The best thing is being prepare. Clothes, snacks, backpacks, lunch money or lunches, diaper bag, bottles. Do this the night before. Routine are best in my house as well. If you wake up late. You don’t have to worry about getting the stuff together because it is already there. Also I remember when I would get ready for work and someone would spill something on me. So having a backup outfit is key. Good Luck, You will do great.
Oh Shynea. I feel so sad just reading this. I just put my baby back in daycare after being unemployed for over 8 months. And it was sooo hard. I guess this isn’t helping you. I’m supposed to be saying something inspirational….
Make sure you have a person on speed dial that will be available to lift you up and give you a pep talk after you drop your babies off. And I always have to tell myself that although I would prefer to be the one at home with my baby, my circumstances don’t give me that option and it takes a village to raise a child, right? I’m happy that you get to leave the babies with relatives instead of strangers…that’s one positive, right? Anyways, I’m babbling and don’t really have much advice, except to get their clothes layed out for them the night before so you’re not scrambling in the morning. Good luck girl! Keep us updated on how it goes. I can’t believe you’re already going back to work
Pack bookbags and diaper bags the night before. Prepare bottles, lay out clothes, take baths at night.
I’m a VERY busy, young mother of two children. My daughter has just started Pre-K, my son attends daycare, I go to school full-time, and I work full-time. I usually get things prepared on my days off. Luckily, my daughter has uniforms for everyday of the week so on Sundays, I prepare her clothes and her hair in a protective style. I’m off on Wednesdays, so when Wednesdays come again, I do another protective style for the remainder of the week. (I usually get home late so combing my daughter’s hair in the evening is not an option.)
I’d also say create some type of support system. I am very thankful for the people whom I have around me. They definitely step in even when I don’t ask and I’m forever grateful.
My sons are older now, but we get the bulk of our work done on the weekends. I do laundry and iron for the week. I also prepare a lot of our meals for the week and freeze them. The kids and I go over menu options for the week during Friday Forum, so I don’t have to figure out whats for dinner everyday. Delegate some of the responsibility to your older boys. There are things that they can do to assist you. Get enough rest at night so that you are not tired in the morning. Ask God to give you strength to get you through the day.
With 3 in school now is the time to teach them how they can help. Routines are individual but you can have the oldest make sandwichs, the second grab snacks, and the youngest pack up the bags. My sis has three kids and none of the kids have dressers instead all complete outfits are hung in their closets. With everything preassembled there are no fights over outfits the kids just grab a hanger and everything is set. You can clip socks and under garments with a clothes pin to the hung outfits. And the kids are picking what they want to wear. I will say one day a week should be dedicated to meal planning, doing the laundry and such. Keep in mind if the kids cant wash and dry clothes yet they still can fold and hang. Wrinkles dont matter only cleanliness.
ha i would no of even tried to accomplish that task too much work.
With my four kids and 3 different school, being prepared always works for me. Clothes are picked out and ironed the night before. If they plan on taking a cold lunch, that gets set up the night before. All homework and whatever else is needed for school is checked and doubled checked the night before.I love the idea of putting entire outfits on hangers. I would have never thought of that. Oh and use your crockpot!!!
