I’M IN THE PROCESS OF PACKING UP & MOVING, AGAIN…
I am the most nomadic mother I know. I get restless once I have been in a house for longer than a year. My lease is up in a little over a month, so I have been making plans for the last month to find a cheaper place for my family to stay. Right now, I am paying almost $800 a month in rent. That is NOT a good amount of money for me seeing as this is more than I make in two weeks at my full time job. In the essence of taking my own advice and scaling back my household bills, I have found my family a nice place to live for $200 less than what I am paying now. (Thank you Craigslist.)
Although I plan on writing an article about scaling back your bills when it comes to the place that your family lives (if you’re like me and are renting and not buying), right now I’m just going to post a few pictures of my new house. After much bartering with the landlord, he has agreed to waive the deposit because I have agreed to put new carpet in the house. (Once again I found a steal. Carpet at $.89 a square foot and $99 installation no matter how many rooms I get carpet installed in.) So, without further ado, here is my new abode/office/sanctuary.

These pictures were taken with my camera, so excuse the quality of them. The walls have been freshly painted, so the pictures of the livingroom and walkin area makes them look dirty. They aren’t though. Matter of fact, they are too bright white. I love older houses, and this is one of them. It does have a few minor things that I don’t like, but that can be fixed with me and my semi-handiness.

Yay!! Good for you!! We found this house on Craigslist too! Love that site…lol.
That is so awesome, happy for you!
Dear Priscilla,
Craiglist list is the stuff.
I am on it all of the time now trying to see what else I can get gently used instead of buying new.
Take care,
Shynea
Glad you were able to find something for $200 less than what you were paying! I’m trying to convince my hubby that when we move (hopefully next summer), we should rent a studio apt for a year or two so that we can use the extra money to pay off our credit cards. He’s not sure he’s ok squishing in a tiny little space for that long!
Dear Cassandra,
I would continue trying to convince him. After just 1-2 years this would give your family a big financial boost, plus y’all would be debt free. It can’t get any better than that. You’ll also be surprised how much the close living arrangements will bring y’all closer together. It would definitely be worth it alone to get rid of credit card payments.
Take care,
Shynea
How exciting!! I really like the new place…it is so cute. And after you get done with your decorating, it’s gonna be so pretty and homey. I love older houses too. I’ve been looking for a new place to move, and haven’t been having much luck within my price range
. I’m so excited for you. You’re gonna have to post pictures of the place after you’re all moved in. BTW…the dining room picture is hilarious! Tell them to get up off that floor!
Shynea, glad you found a new house and especially in that price range. Way yo go.
Cynthia
Congrats, looks like you got a snazzy pad!
Tell Reginald to get himself off the floor. At least until the carpet has been replaced LMBO!
Looks like a great house, Shy. I LOVE those podium looking things on either side of the entrance to the living room. I’ve always loved those for some reason plus they are a great place to be able to “unload” your hands when you walk in the door and have a toddler struggling to go back OUT of it. Or maybe that’s just me
haha Congrats on the new place honey!!
I know what you mean about the nomadic thing. In the last 26 years I have lived in 13 housesand most of those bought not rented. I think its in my genes as some of my family were travelers a couple of generations back.
