SNEAK PEEK AT LIFETIME’S MARRY ME & GIVING BACK THIS SEASON

My mother made me a huge fan of Lifetime movies when I was growing up. I distinctly remember every Sunday sitting around the house all day in our pajamas watching movie after movie after movie. Now as an adult, and living more than 440 miles away from her, I still find myself watching Lifetime movies on Sunday.

Now as a blogger I have had many opportunities to not only work with Lifetime on viewing advance screeners, but I have written for their Lifetime Moms network on several occasions.

I am really excited to be able to throw an advanced screening party for their upcoming two part miniseries Marry Me starring Lucy Liu which will air on Lifetime December 12th and 13th. Here is a brief synopsis of this charming movie:

Award nominated film and television actress Lucy Liu (Ally McBeal, Charlie’s Angels) stars in the Lifetime Television original miniseries event Marry Me, the story of one woman’s journey to find her elusive “Prince Charming.” But when she happens to find three at the same time, who she ultimately chooses is a surprise…even to her.

I was contacted by Lifetime to throw an a screening party for this movie with a few of my girlfriends. I decided to do something different instead and throw a party for a group of women who really deserves it. As a survivor of domestic violence I know how much having fun in the midst of chaos is good for not only your mind, but your heart and soul as well. I decided to use the resources that Lifetime provide to instead throw a viewing party for the beautiful ladies who live in a home for women of domestic violence. I plan on gifting them with a good movie, good food, and then some goodies to take with them after the event is over. I’m really excited that once reaching out to the local shelter the volunteer coordinator was just as excited and eager as I was to get the ball rolling on this event.

I am in the midst of planning this party and I will keep y’all updated on how it progresses.

Due to the importance of privacy and confidentiality to the women of the shelter I will not be posting any pictures or location details of the party. I will, however, let you see pictures of me doing preparations at my home  for the party as well as writing a follow up post on how much fun I had after the party (because you know I love having fun and enjoying myself).

  1. I think that’s a really awesome idea. I’ve been there before, so I know just how very much they will appreciate this gesture. It’s a rough transition to go through, leaving everyone and everything you know behind and living with people you don’t know in a place that is not your own, while trying to start over and deal with trauma. They will have a great time, and I think that this is a fantastic idea.

  2. I am not surprised that you are kind and loving enough to think of these ladies and do this for them. I think that it is such a great thing and they will love the gesture that you are extending to them. I hope you all have a great time.
