TARGET: MY FROZEN FOOD SHOPPING TRIP

I posted about an awesome gift card deal that Target had going on this week in some areas. Basically, you could purchase ANY seven frozen food items and you would receive a $5 Target gift card back. I wasn’t able to make it to my local Target until today to try out this deal, and boy was I surprised at what I got. First, let me show you a picture of my haul:

There are 28 items in this picture and after my gift cards I paid $14.13 or just $.51 for each individual item!

This is what I got:

  • 7 Edys 5.8oz mini cups of ice cream ($1.02 each).
  • 7 bags of Birds Eye Steam Fresh vegetables ($1.02 each).
  • 7 Banquet tv dinners ($.84 each).
  • 2 Lean Pockets ($2.09 each).
  • 3 Totinos Pizzas ($1.27 each).
  • 2 El Monterey frozen chimichangas ($2.99 each).

I did this entire shopping trip without any coupons! I wanted to prove that you could work this deal without coupons and still get a great amount of savings. I will be going back tomorrow to get 14 more bags of the Steam Fresh vegetables, 7 more mini cups of ice cream, some frozen juice in the canister, and a few more things. (I’m going to price a small used upright chest freezer for my apartment so I can have plenty of room to start stockpiling my frozen foods.)

Today, I managed to walk out of the store with great savings and $20 worth of Target gift cards.

If you had a good trip at Target this week, post in the comments what you bought!

If you want to send in your pictures, email them to me. I LOVE posting other’s savings stories.

  1. I was so disappointed that they weren’t running this deal in my area…I was so ready to get stocked up on some frozen foods! Go ahead and send that ice cream my way :)

  2. Nice haul, especially without coupons. With coupons the savings would have been proposterous! I’m a little disgusted that CA Targets aren’t running this promo..but then I’m used to it. CA is so stingy with the savings it’s ridiculous!

Are you going to use your giftcards when you go back to buy more items so pay less oop?

  3. Thanks for the reminder. I will have to go by target tomorrow.
