“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.”
Psalm 90:12

Our days are numbered on the earth. What we do on earth will be judged by God. We need to spend our time on earth wisely, honoring and serving God.

Our lives have become a here-and-now type of life. I hear the quotes almost on a daily basis “that tomorrow is not promised so live for today” or “I’m living today like it’s my last.” Although the words may sound good that isn’t the stance that we should be taking.

It is true that tomorrow is never promised but we need to plan our lives right now for our Heavenly future. Every fiber of our life must be dedicated to honoring God.

“Teach us to number our days carefully…”

We need to prayerfully seek God’s guidance in everything that we do. We need to learn how to spend our days doing what is pleasing to Him. Any problem that we have, their is a solution on how to handle it in the Bible. Any question our lips can form, an answer can be found in His book. We need to learn to listen to what God is teaching us and plan out our eternal life into our earthly life.

“…so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.”

We need to also incorporate a bigger understanding into our lives. Wisdom is not something that is gained overnight, it is something that takes time to develop. Once we start developing wisdom we need to start applying it to our hearts. So often we let our hearts over power our minds; we continuously let our emotions get the best of us. And even though we KNOW that what we are doing at the time is wrong sometimes we just can’t control those emotions in enough time.

Often time that emotional part of us leads to disaster, but if we start thinking in the terms of “God has placed me on this earth for a set amount of time I NEED to start living and planning out my temporary life for my eternal life” a lot of things will start changing in us.

I continually pray:

God continue to work with, and in, me. Help me to become the woman that you want me to be. Help me to control my emotions so that I can think and react with a clear mind.

Up until today I didn’t know that I was praying for “wisdom in my heart.” Job 28:28 says:

“Look! The fear of the Lord – that is wisdom and to turn from evil is understanding.”

There you go. It’s right there laid out in front of you. “The fear of the Lord is wisdom.” If what we are doing and saying can’t be done unshamefully in front of God then we need to stop it.

Let’s think of it in computer terms:

  • You have complete CONTROL over your life.
  • If what you are doing isn’t pleasing to the Lord, then find and ALTERNATIVE solution.
  • If all else fails then DELETE it from your life.

Lord I come to You today to ask that You continue to work with, and in, me. Continue to change my heart so that I can lead a life of wisdom. Father God continue to make Your presence known in my life. Without You I am just a sinner with no purpose. Lord I want to walk in Your ways all of the days of my earthly life so that I can spend eternity with You. I am blessed to have a Father as understanding as You. Please continue to guide me in Your ways.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

What did you get from today’s reading? (This reading is actually from day 18 but I was really moved to post it today for some reason.)

Please share in the comments or feel free to post your own S.O.A.P. in the comments. I hope that everyone is having a blessed day. Please uplift all of your fellow sisters who are reading through Psalms in your daily prayers.

There will be a check in post tomorrow! I can’t wait to hear how each of you are doing.
