NATURE’S BABY ORGANICS HELPS WITH DRY SKIN: REVIEW & GIVEAWAY {closed}

28 August 2009 by Shynea - Editor 1,973 views 108 Comments

Natures Baby Organics - 03Junior, my youngest son who is 10 months old, suffers from extremely dry skin. Eczema is the medical term for it. His dry patches are mostly on his arms and legs, with his elbows and knees being the worse.

I’m guessing I passed on this trait to him because I suffer from eczema as well. Although my case is not as severe as his, it still bothers me on occasion. Especially during the summer months when the weather has the tendency to dry my skin out.

I am always trying to find products that will work for his skin. I have been through a lot of different brands trying to find the right one. From Eucerin to natural Shea butter to prescription ointments. (I’m not a fan of prescriptions unless absolutely necessary.) If a product has come out that says “for dry skin” I can guarantee that I have tried it.

Not only does eczema dry the skin, it makes it very sensitive. I can’t use anything on his skin that contains perfume or dyes. It just irritates it even worse.

That is when I found Nature’s Baby Organics. Their products are organically made for children with sensitive skin. When I saw that I was immediately drawn in.

Natures Baby Organics - 01

Adena Surabian, the woman behind this wonderful company, founded Nature’s Baby Organics after her one year old daughter broke out in a mysterious rash all over her body. During the two years that she was researching chemicals and developing a line of hair and skincare products for children with sensitive skin her second daughter was born and suffered from severe eczema. This story is how I knew that this line of products would work beautifully on my sons skin. In 2005, Natures Baby Organics was born and every thing that compounds her line is 100% from nature.

Natures Baby Organics - 02The products that I tried were the Shampoo & Body Wash, Bubble Bath and the Organic Soothing Stick. Although all three of these products has helped to soothe my sons skin I want to concentrate on my love for the Organic Soothing Stick. This product is my all time favorite. It is like an over sized chap stick for the skin. I keep this baby in my purse and when I notice my sons elbows or knees are starting to get dry, I can whip this out and spread it on his skin. It’s as easy as that. Roll it up, spread it on, roll it down. Simplicity and ingenuity at its finest.

  • 12. cindi said:

The soothing stick looks like an awesome convenience! And the thrifty mama…moisturizing is very important, I know, I’m old, and I show my daughter every day what happens if you dont take care of the beautiful skin you have when you are young! LOL!

I’d love to try Nature’s Baby Organics Bubble Bath. My 14 month old LOVES to take bubble baths :) She doesn’t have sensitive skin that I know of, but I also don’t want to use harsh products that may end up causing a reaction or eventually become irritating to her delicate skin either. :)

  • 29. TheThriftyMama said:

    at Target? Really? Cool

  • 30. Julie Smart said:

I would love to try the products… are they unscented?

  • 31. Rachel said:

Yup socal, we have to remember that everything we put on our skin goes into our bodies, kinda scary with all the unnatural products out there!

  • 32. Jamie Rouse said:

Really, they are at Target!! I should use some of my gift cards from baby showers to get some of these products.

  • 33. The SoCal Mom said:

Julie some of their products are also fragrance-free, not all.

  • 34. Rachel said:

Have you guys looked at the website? They have some awesome stuff on there!

  • 35. Julie Smart said:

Thanks The SoCal Mom for letting me know I was just looking at the website too. I see that they make several things unscented. I have to use lots of unscented items my one child has really sensitive skin.

  • 36. nonebetter said:

I want to check out the website for Nature’s Baby Organics with winter right around the corner dry skin is bound to be an issue for my daughter and I..hopefully some of these products will stop that in its tracks

  • 37. Julie Smart said:

I am going to look at Target this week!

  • 38. TheThriftyMama said:

what are your favorite scents everyone? Or are you an unscented person?

  • 39. RMB said:

Moisturizer! I LOVE moisturizer :-) My oldest son could definitely try this for his hands. He has terribly dry hands. Nothing we’ve tried really helps. My kids have lotion on them after EVERY single bath until they are old enough that they don’t let me cover them in lotion. My friends think I’m odd because of it. I too put lotion on myself after every single bath/shower. I always used to think everybody did and it was part of life. I guess I was wrong! haha

  • 40. Julie Smart said:

I would like to try the Organic Soothing Stick Shynea talked about in the Review I think it would help my child a lot this Winter!

  • 41. The SoCal Mom said:

I usually get unscented. My kids LOVE to take baths so I will probably get them the Nature’s Baby Organic Bubble Bath!

  • 42. Julie Smart said:

I think I am a unscented person due to the sensitive skin issues. What about everyone else?

  • 43. TheThriftyMama said:

I’m a lavender freak myself :) love it!

  • 44. RMB said:

I don’t have a favorite scent for lotion. I’d usually rather smell some perfume than lotion. I do however buy scented lotions rather than unscented as I usually don’t like the unscented smell. Most do smell like something.

  • 45. Julie Smart said:

I wonder if Target carries all the products or just a few?

  • 46. RMB said:

Target is THREE (3) HOURS away from me! GAH!!

  • 47. Jamie Rouse said:

I think that I am an unscented person.

  • 48. TheThriftyMama said:

Target may just carry a few, anyone know?

  • 49. Julie Smart said:

TheThiriftyMama that is what I was wondering? Does anyone else know how many products does Target have?

  • 50. Kat @ For the Love of Chaos said:

We don’t have a target here either… it’s about 30 minutes away. Little bitty town = no good stores LOL

So one of the ways I take care of my skin is with baby oil. It’s not as toxic as other things out there. What are some things you all use to take care of your skin”?

  • 52. Lisa said:

    I love these products

  • 53. RMB said:

I’m pregnant right now, so I’m using the Palmer’s stuff. I use LOTS of it. :-)

  • 54. TheThriftyMama said:

I used that when i was preggo. And I still ended up with a ton of stretch marks. :(

  • 55. RMB said:

I used it with my last pregnancy and I have very few. Not saying that it’s the miracle product. I think some people get them and some don’t. But it does feel good. :-)

  • 56. Julie Smart said:

I agree some get stretch marks and some don’t.

  • 57. TheThriftyMama said:

I’m definitely a road map of stretch marks. Anyone recommend a good skin care product to get rid of them?

  • 58. RMB said:

I wish I knew of one. The inside of my thighs is where they bother me most.

  • 59. TheThriftyMama said:

My belly and hips are the worst.

  • 60. RMB said:

Mine’s the inside of my thighs and my boobs. I lost 2 sizes after breastfeeding. :-( Not that I’d trade breastfeeding for anything. It was the greatest experience for me and I cannot wait to do it again with this baby. The bond is amazing! My first baby was bottle fed.

  • 61. TheThriftyMama said:

Same here RMB, mine have some serious stretch marks as well. It would be great to find a product to get rid of all these stretch marks.

  • 62. RMB said:

I’m giggling ThriftyMama… I think we’re going to have to chat our way to comment #273. haha

  • 63. Rachel said:

Ok I’ll pipe in! My favorite scent is mint anything, I love it, it makes me feel so clean and refreshed!

  • 64. TheThriftyMama said:

Mmmm…I love mint, especially for a bath soak .

  • 65. RMB said:

hmmm… mint. Haven’t ever had anything mint. My MIL gave me some Philosophy body wash and I’m loving that right now. I have a hard time finding scents I really like and don’t get sick of quickly. I don’t like fruity and floral.

  • 66. Rachel said:

I always think the philosophy stuff sounds so good, but i’ve never smelled it in person….

  • 67. TheThriftyMama said:

I don;t think I’ve every tried Philosophy. Is it good?

  • 68. Rachel said:

Has anyone already picked out what they want from the site? I think the chest rub would be pretty awesome when little missy is sick

  • 69. Kim said:

    I love nature’s baby!

  • 70. TheThriftyMama said:

I’m afraid to pick out what I want. Then if I loose I’ll be all disappointed. I’m just casually browsing the items. lol

  • 71. Rachel said:

haha yeah we’re not even close!

  • 72. The SoCal Mom said:

Do any of you have a child who is constantly clammy all over their body? If so, do you ever apply lotion to them or anything? My son is so uncomfortable as it is, I feel bad when I have to apply lotion even when he needs it.

  • 73. RMB said:

Philosophy is excellent, what I’ve tried anyway, which isn’t tons. :-)

  • 74. Rachel said:

hmmm my dd isn’t ever clammy, she has dry skin like dh… what kind of lotion have you used in the past on him?

  • 75. TheThriftyMama said:

Clammy probably has to do with the humidity.

  • 76. Kim said:

hmmm… not sure about the clamminess! Is is the weather where you live?

  • 77. melissa said:

my 6month old is starting to get dry patches. need a good lotion.

  • 78. The SoCal Mom said:

I guess it is fairly humid here in SoCal. I get sticky when it is hot but poor little guy stays clammy even when it is cooler out.

  • 79. Christine said:

Love that they are made from Natural ingredients

  • 80. The SoCal Mom said:

I just noticed the chapstick for the skin. What a fantastic idea!

  • 81. Julie Smart said:

  • 82. Rachel said:

I think the chapstick for the skin would be great for my rough elbows, especially in the winter

  • 83. The SoCal Mom said:

I was reading that they have “calming” spray. It has soothing lavender and chamomile essential oil. You spray it on the bedsheets and blankets before bedtime. I would love to use this for my little guy. He is a very restless sleeper.

  • 84. nonebetter said:

I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to check the site..are the products only sold onlibe or in stores too?

  • 85. The SoCal Mom said:

They are sold online as well as Babies R Us, Local health food stores like The Vitamin shoppe, Henry’s Farmers Market, etc. You can actually go to their website and put in your zip code and it will give you a list of stores you can buy these products at.

Natural products are starting to get super popular. Even people who don’t *need* them for physical reasons *want* them because they are natural… these companies are going to continue to grow!

  • 91. Sarah M. said:

  • 95. Nicole Chasing Blue said:

Ah-choo chest rub would come in handy this fall/winter with my 4 little ones.

I wonder how it feels on your chest. When I was little i loved the feeling and smell of vicks vapor rub.

  • 96. Lauren said:

I agree about the bubble bath. I love them but have rarely taken them b/c of sensitive skin concerns. This could be a lot of fun!

  • 97. Nicole Chasing Blue said:

They usually steal their brother’s baby wash and try to make bubbles.

I think my son would just eat the bubbles.

  • 98. Tamara said:

I must admit that I am a seasonal user of moisturizing my own skin, but I tend to always keep my kids’ skin moist especially in the winter months!

  • 100. Lauren said:

nonebetter – for some reason my earlier comments got deleted (I thought they were on topic??) but I was pointing out to you that while these products are specifically marketed towards babies (due to issues like market share & need) the website specifies that they work great on adults as well.

  • 101. Destin FL Sam said:

Both of my children have dry skin and sometimes itchy skin as well. I would love to try a body wash for them that is pure for them and won’t leave them dry.

nonebetter, you may want to suggest unscented goat milk soap to your sister. It has worked wonders in our family for eczema. We really like the ones from Goatmilksoap.com
I hope that is all right to post here!

wow Sarah M. never heard of that, thanks so much! I didn’t know that existed!
