A&E’s NEW DOCUMENTARY: RAISING BAIN PREMIERING TONIGHT

A&E’s NEW DOCUMENTARY: RAISING BAIN PREMIERING TONIGHT
August 23, 2010 by Shynea
There is something about "larger than normal families" that fascinates me. (Some people are fascinated with my "big" family and I only have five children.) I like to see how they operate and I love to hear the stories of why they decided to have a large family in the first place. A new documentary on A&E has drawn my attention and I was more than happy when I was presented with the opportunity to get an advance copy of it. (Plus, it made me feel important and who doesn't like that? *wink*) Raising Bain follows matriarch Kathy Bain and ...

A MOTHER’S INTERVENTION: MY GUEST POST ON LIFETIME MOMS

A MOTHER’S INTERVENTION: MY GUEST POST ON LIFETIME MOMS
July 28, 2010 by Shynea
I was very honored when I was asked to write a guest post for Lifetime Moms. I am a huge fan of the Lifetime television network, stemming from my mother's constant Lifetime movie marathon weekends when I was growing up. I was given the chance to review an advance copy of an upcoming episode of A&E's hit television series Intervention. (Intervention, to me, is a combination of a reality show and documentary.) Below you'll find a snippet of my review and link that will take you directly to the Lifetime Moms website to read the rest. As a...

ON THE ROAD WITH AUSTIN & SANTINO: LIFETIME’S LATEST GENIUS CREATION

ON THE ROAD WITH AUSTIN & SANTINO: LIFETIME’S LATEST GENIUS CREATION
July 26, 2010 by Shynea
I am a reality television junkie. To make a reality tv show successful and addicting in my eyes you have to have a cast of colorful and quirky personalities combined with an original concept. With that being said, it takes a lot for me to become addicted to a reality tv show, especially a new one, because I am always so critical and will usually write a show off within the first episode. Imagine my excitement when I found out that Lifetime has a new show appearing this Thursday, July 29th with two of my all time favorite Project Runway stars A...

BELLE BABY CARRIERS LETS YOU CARRY YOUR BABY IN STYLE & COMFORT

BELLE BABY CARRIERS LETS YOU CARRY YOUR BABY IN STYLE & COMFORT
July 25, 2010 by Shynea
As part of my Baby Shower Extravaganza, I have decided to showcase products that I have discovered that will make being a mommy just a little bit easier. I've presented my top  five problems as my youngest children having too much free range in the house, helping to prevent diaper rash, keeping the nurses informed at the hospital that I’m breastfeeding, my willingness to learn how to cloth diaper, and keeping my baby warm without using a blanket. The next problem that I want to tackle has to do with baby wearing. PROBLEM #06. FINDING A BA...

LET BELLY BANDIT HELP YOU BIND YOUR BELLY AFTER DELIVERY

LET BELLY BANDIT HELP YOU BIND YOUR BELLY AFTER DELIVERY
June 28, 2010 by Shynea
I have recently heard about the benefits of belly binding after you have given birth.Unfortunately with my first four pregnancies I was oblivious to any knowledge about binding your stomach postpartum. I do know about the benefits of breastfeeding in regards to helping you get down to your pre-pregnancy weight, but this belly binding information was new to me.  So of course, the first person I asked was my mother. (Because sometimes I do think she does know a little bit more than me. *wink*) I was really shocked to find out that she bound h...

As part of my month long Baby Shower Extravaganza, I have decided to showcase products that I have discovered that will make being a mommy just a little bit easier. I presented my first problem as my youngest children having too much free range in the house and my second problem with helping to prevent diaper rash. My next problem is something that I face in the hospital, after giving birth. Problem #03. Keeping nurses informed that I'm breastfeeding. I start breastfeeding my babies almost as soon as I give birth to them. Once they have got...

As part of my month long Baby Shower Extravaganza, I have decided to showcase products that I have discovered that will make being a mommy just a little bit easier. I presented my first problem as my youngest children having too much free range in the house. That problem is solved, and now I'm going to tackle my second problem. Problem #02. Baby Bums + Diaper Rash = Unhappy Baby & Mommy I have been very fortunate to not have to deal with diaper rash in my baby boys too much. They have gotten it occasionally, but overall I haven't had to...

LET SUMMER INFANT HELP YOU BUY THE RIGHT BABY GATE

LET SUMMER INFANT HELP YOU BUY THE RIGHT BABY GATE
June 10, 2010 by Shynea
As part of my month long Baby Shower Extravaganza, I have decided to showcase products that I have discovered that will make being a mommy just a little bit easier. (Because we know that in all actuality what we want can never be created. *smiles* Like extra hours in the day or an extra pair of arms or two.) During my search for products, I have come across quite a few and I had no idea how to narrow down what I really "needed" from what I really "wanted." I finally decided to make a list of the things that the baby boys do that make my day hec...

LEARNING TO EAT WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS IS HARD – SASSY BABY HELPS

LEARNING TO EAT WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS IS HARD – SASSY BABY HELPS
May 17, 2010 by Shynea
I have written countless times about my two year old son Tooty and his developmental delays, physical therapy and his pending diagnosis with autisim. I have struggled and prayed constantly about this. With his pending diagnosis comes a plethora of developmental delays that he should have already mastered by this age. One of those being the ability to feed himself. As I am now learning, it looks as if my baby boy Bammy will have to go to some type of speech therapy as he is following in Tooty's footsteps and not yet forming any solid words yet. ...

FINDING A GOOD SIPPY CUP IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD

FINDING A GOOD SIPPY CUP IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD
February 19, 2010 by Shynea
We go through sippy cups on a weekly basis. To transition my two baby boys from bottles to sippy cups, I introduced them to the sippy cups that had a soft spout instead of the hard spout. This was the best, and worse, thing that I could have done because they now refuse to drink from a sippy cup with a hard spout. Normally this would be fine, but there is one problem: I have a chewer. My two year old son loves to chew on the soft spout of his sippy cup. The end results? He goes through a cup a week because he chews a hole and then mass leak...

Whenever I get the chance to promote women owned businesses I get really excited. I have found a lot of nice products made entirely by women and they are made of some of the best quality materials around. This is how I felt when I found the company Executees. Owned by Tracy Wright ,she makes some of the best custom, embellished t-shirts that I have seen. A little bit of information about Executees: Executees is the place to shop for premium quality embellished t-shirts, apparel and accessories. Executees uses larger sized Swarovski Crys...

HOPSCOTCH TEES – CUSTOM SHIRTS FOR KIDS

HOPSCOTCH TEES – CUSTOM SHIRTS FOR KIDS
February 7, 2010 by Shynea
As a mom, I love shopping for clothes for my kids. I am always on the lookout for fun, unique clothes for my two year old son.  I was approached to do a review for Hopscotch Tees, a kids' tee shirt company,  and I quickly agreed. I visited the Hopscotch Tees webite and the excitement began to build. It is always fun to get personalized clothing because my son has an unpopular name that isn't on most named merchandise. There are designs to choose from for both boys and girls and a good variety of them. I was happy to see that there are pictu...

LET BABY SO SMART SLINGS CARRY YOUR BABY IN STYLE + A GIVEAWAY {CLOSED}

LET BABY SO SMART SLINGS CARRY YOUR BABY IN STYLE + A GIVEAWAY {CLOSED}
December 20, 2009 by Shynea
As you all know, I am the mother of four sons. With all four sons, it seemed like I learned something new. I either discovered a better way to do something, or I was introduced to a new product that made me think "I wish they had this around with my other son. Life would have been SO much easier." That is how I felt a year ago when I was introduced to baby slings and baby wearing. Of course I had seen a few other mothers wear them, but I had no idea how to use them exactly. I also had this pre-conceived notion that they would be extremely unco...
